Exhibition installation, Halle 14, Baumwollspinnerei Leipzig, 2010

This installation is a portrait of a militarist-bourgeois-liberal family tree, the items of this installation are inherited from my german-prussian family branch. The bookshelf contains literary and philosophical key works representing the 19th century social history, interwoven with some of their romantic or conservative-nationalist contemporaries. They are complemented with books from the ‘revolutionary’ library of my fathers student times. The shelf covers more than a century of poitical identity schemes in my family.

I remember my grandmother saying to us children that she did not know about Hitlers concentration camps. There seems to be a certain spot in her history that was blank, white-washed or rubbed out.
